Home For Now

It’s time to go home, hang up your bag and hat… just for now. In this empty, slow time, identity drops away with no outside world acknowledgement. In this radical letting alone of myself, who I think I am might just drop away, expanding my capacity to be gentle, kind and loving. 

In support of coming home to self and this blatant opportunity for a spiritual growth spurt*, I’ve put together some of my favourite sensual pleasures, practices and resources.

If you want to experiment with making your own chai, here is a recipe I’ve tried for dandelion chai. My favourite blends to buy are Calmer Sutra for dandelion chai and Prana for back chai and The Fresh Chai Co for rooibos chai.

Create – for no other reason than you can!

Creativity is contagious. Pass it on.” says Albert Einstein. Let your imagination guide you and witness creativity in action. On Confinement is a wonderful introductory read to inspire imaginary travel in small spaces.

  • Create a mood or vision board that will help your visualise the world you want to wake up to.
  • Sort through old boxes of photos or letters and set up an altar of photos, with objects and memorabilia that bring joy and beauty to the space.
  • Journal, write, create poetry. Get inspiration from your favourite blogs. Expand your world view, be choosy what you read and mindful of how easy it is to be sucked into the anxiety-making vortex of media. 
  • Dance, create a home yoga/pilates/Qigong routine and round the movement out with stillness and meditation.
  • Revive your garden and plant some vegetable seedlings or create a bountiful balcony with potted herbs.
  • Refresh your physical space, your wardrobe, pantry, bookshelf. Get rid of clothes and accumulated stuff, clean, paint, tidy; bring order and beauty Marie Kondo style.

My urge is to simplify life, to walk backward into time where slow and still are valued. I’d love to hear what’s urging you on right now.
